ICELANDS HIGHLIGHTS IN ONE DAY
The golden circle takes you on a tour through parts of Iceland that are iconic and a must see while visiting the country. You will experience Iceland at its best. To refrain from participating on this tour is like going to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower.
This day tour will take to the mystical hot springs in the Geysir area, Gullfoss and Þingvellir. The tours first stop is in the national park Þingvellir. This is the place where the worlds first national parliament was founded. It was established in 930 AD. Until 1798 sessions where held in this area. This beautiful place is situated on the American and European continental ridge, and it makes this a very special place.
The second stop for the day is the spectacular Gullfoss. A thundering waterfall that appears out of nowhere. It is an impressive two-step waterfall, and due to its natural surroundings you can get up really close to it, if you dare to. Be causious when walking around, the ground may be slippery.
The third stop is the truly impressive Geysir. It is unique and powerfull. The geysir blows boiling hot water 20 - 30 meters up in the air every 5-10 minutes. Have your cameras ready, and beware of the direction of the wind.
Friðheimar is a tour center and greenhouse and it is Iceland's largest greenhouse. Here the participants will learn how to grow perfect and natural tomatoes with the help of geothermal heat. Friðheimar uses only Icelandic cold water and gets help of over 600 bumblebees to pollinate the tomatoes.
While traveling from place to place the guide will tell you about the different attractions and also places of interest on the way. In the geysir area it is possible to buy lunch and snacks.
